  • The final outcome.....

Well I got a call later yesterday saying that the insurance adjuster from 'HER' insurance company would meet me at the body shop and look at the trunk today.  Pretty quick action.  I show up there this morning and they are all duly impressed with the quick action I got.  Mr. Adjustor introduces himself to me and out we go, him, me and the body shop guy.  I tell them my concerns and the adjustor asks how many times the trunk has flipped open while driving.  I am like WHAT????  He said, that is what you told the claim agent when you called.  Ahhhhh, now I see why things happened so quickly.  I explained that I did not say it happened but said, what if it does.  Obviously the person I left the message for did not listen.  Anyhow they look at it and slam the trunk down a few hundred times and go back and forth, cutting stuff off, tweaking things and asking me questions.  I was getting pretty fed up and stopped them and gave them my speel. Here is what it sounded like...."Excuse me but you two can go round and round about why this is happening, that the lock is defective, that Honda stinks whatever.  The bottom line is this, the car had no problems until "your" client rammed her SUV into my husbands tail while he was sitting at a red light.  According to all I know about driving and accidents and the fact that the State Trooper cited her and gave his card to my husband and told him to call if he had any problems because she was 100% at fault,  this is your problem Liberty Mutual not mine.  I refuse to drive a car that has not been fixed properly and is in my opinion a safety hazard.  It is even more important now that my 17 year old son got his license yesterday and will be driving this car that it be fixed.  Because believe me, if that trunk does not hold and pops up while he is driving my guess is the outcome will not be the best.  He is not an experienced driver and may not have his wits about him.  If anything happens to him or this car due to you negligence, I will come after both of you with my attorneys(this got their attention)".  A few minutes later the owner of the shop took the car into one of his little garages and the adjustor explained to me that they think it may be an alignment problem and are going to try doing something.  I told him he has until 12:30 as I have to leave then. All I can hear while I am outside waiting is the familiar slamming sound of the trunk trying to be closed.  At 12:25 the bimbo from the office comes out and tells me she is going to get my part.  I am like what??? I told him I had to be driving out of here at 12:30.  So I go inside and tell Mr. Fix It no go on I gotta leave.  He is ordering the part and will install it at my convenience next week and I am not to open the trunk.  He told me that Liberty will not pay for the new part and that he will "eat the cost" because we are such good customers.  I didn't tell him that after the fix we will NOT be coming back.  I was pissed.  I mean really, did this "defect" just occur after we got home with the car?? Dh did not use the trunk for a couple three weeks after the fix but it had to be an issue after they installed it.  Did they think we would be okay with it???  I wanted to ask the guy what the hell kind of business are you running here??? He is going to eat the cost. well that is mighty big of you aint it.

So the car is back home, not fixed.  Jacob is driving it and I told him what to do in case the trunk opens while driving.  And I will call them on Monday to make an appointment to go back in and have the stupid thing fixed.

  • Career change????

I think I have found my calling and what I do best.  That would be the pain in the ass!!!!  I am an insurance companies nightmare phone call.  This all started years ago, well about 15 to be exact when the insurance company told me that my son's cleft lip surgery would not be covered because it is a pre existing condition. I was like WTH??? If I had given birth to a child with a cleft lip would that have been a pre existing condition, I think not.  I threatened to get the three big news stations out to my house with their camera and film my adorable son's face and got the attorney who helped us with the adoption to send off a letter of threat to them.  She did, I called the news stations and guess what the insurance company sent a letter saying after looking at the case they made an error.  Yeah whatever.

About three months ago, dh was rear ended by an SUV and he drives a civic.  He was not hurt but the car was messed up pretty bad.  It was clearly her fault and she was cited.  We tried dealing with her insurance company, Liberty Mutual, but the adjustor never seemed to be at her desk to take calls, I continued getting her voice mail.  Dh was pissed at having to wait and went directly to a body shop he dealt with in the past and it turns out that they work with Liberty Mutual.  They gave him a rental and kep his car.  Shortly after getting it back we found the trunk would not close.  We have to slam it over and over and over and wait for it to close.  Now it makes vibrating noises when the car is idle, very annoying.  I was fed up today and called dh and asked him if he spoke to the body shop.  He said he did and they told him they were waiting for the insurance company to call them back, that the part was defective and that it would have to be looked at by an adjustor again.  Well knowing what dealing with Liberty Mutual was like the first time I thought oh great.  I called dh today and got the info and made a call to our old friend Mary at Liberty.  Surprise surprise she was not in but I could leave a message if I wanted to.  I did and it was not nice.  About 15 min later I called the body shop to get information from them and the receptionist was laughing when I told her my name.  She put me on hold and gave me to the owner. He was laughing.  I was like okay wth is so funny???  Liberty Mutual just called them/him and read him the riot act about how they knew nothing about the defective piece blah blah blah.  Wrong, they called Liberty three times, have it documented and left messages.  Mary, it seems, was not at her desk (God only knows where Mary is) and did not get the messages.   He told me what was wrong, and that he told dh he should call Liberty and "rattle their cage".  I explained to him that dh does not "rattle" but I sure do.  I got a message from Mary and she apologized for the delay and that she is giving the problem to an adjustor.  The adjustor called me 10 min ago and I have an appointment tomorow afternoon at 11:30 to have it looked at.  Of course it is not fixed but I have no problems going after them to make sure it is seeing that dh did not ask to be hit while sitting at a red light by some idiot in her SUV who was most likely text messaging and hit him going pretty fast.  I will do what I have to do and am not afraid to do some more "rattling".

It is time consuming, I found this out with Jess.  You have to spend a lot of time on the phone, you have to keep notes and be someone's pain in the arse but I have found that the times I have done it that I get results.  I plan on getting results with this problem too.

  • Sometimes ya just gotta laugh

excuse the lower case, by shift key is sticking and i am not wanting to mess with it today......

seems i am on a roll but it is a roll that i would like to stop now....please.  i liken it to that of a snowball rolling down a hill and then off the freaking cliff.  let me begin.....

i took a train to spokane on friday.  the train did not leave until 4:45 pm and the only ride i could get would get us to the train station by noon.  what am i gonna do, i have to take it or pony up $75 for shuttle service.  so off we go.  the train was pretty nice and as i sat in my seat i thought the airlines could sure take lessons from them. talk about room???  holy cow, room to put your stuff, room to put your legs and even a little rest to pull up so your legs could relax in luxury.  it was really heavenly!!!  we went up to the dining car and grabbed a snack, came back and settled down for our long ride.  everything was wonderful, i knit myself into a tizzy.  then it started getting late and i started getting antsy.  calle fell asleep but i could not.  so i focused on the people around me.  there was a cyring screaming baby in the back, the guy next to me put some chewing tobacco in his mouth and proceeded to "spit" into a cup, the guy in front of him had his headphones sooooo loud that i could hear them when i was plugged into my ipod, the guy in front of me was a vet who got shot up in iraq.  i know this because the woman next to him tried talking to him.  you could tell he did not want to talk, but she could not tell as she prodded and pried.  when she got up to go to the snack car he asked her to check on whether or not they had an whiskey because he needed to take his pain pills.  she came back with two bottles of beer for herself and a report on the whiskey.  i decided to read, that always makes me sleepy.  about ten pages in i find my eyes getting heavy and alas sleep.  that is until the woman behind me starts snoring to beat the band.  i could not believe it and she woke calle up.  so the train ride was great but sleep wise, not so great.  but i would do it again in a heartbeat.  i really liked it!!  so we get to the hotel and the idiots put us in a smoking room the only room they had left.  we took it and dh said he got a room at his hotel for sat nite so we could come back with him then.  we had to tough it out one nite and we were both so tired i figured it would not matter.  but it was gross, like going to sleep in an ashtray!  true to his word, dh shows up and gets us and deposits us back in his room.  we get there and the key won't work so he heads up to the desk and we wait.  he comes down gets us in and we hook up the computer and get settled.  calle finds out the tv does not work.  i call the desk, they send a guy in and yep they need to replace the tv.  dh has to head off to do chaperoning stuff so calle and i decide to take a walk along the riverfront.  it should bring us downtown.  we go to the front desk and i tell he guy what we want to do and i also tell him that i am no good with a map.  he says 'let me get a map' helllllloooo what part of i am not good with a map did you miss?  well off we go and we get lost. yep.  great.  then i spot macy's on the top of a building, being the good little shopper that i am, and we just follow it along and find our way.  we stumbled upon a bunch of shops and walk around looking in all but nothing we have to have and nothing that is unique.  i can go to nordstrom at home if i want.  i was a bit disappointed.  we decide to go to a movie which is also in the building but the movies we want are only being shown at nite.  we are not hungry so we decide to head back to the hotel.  i hit a patch of ice and down i go.  we finally get back to the room and the key does not work AGAIN.  we call dh thinking maybe we have the wrong room number, nope it aint working.  he comes back takes the key upstairs AGAIN and we get in.  now by this time i am not in a very good mood.  so we sit, calle decides to watch a movie she brought and the computer wont work for some reason.  dh can't help because he has to run off to some reception for the chaperones....whatever.  calle watches a movie on the tv and i take a nap.  i wake up at 2:30 and am famished.  we have not eaten since 7:00 am.  so we decide to go down to the lobby to grab a bite.  we get there and the lobby lounge is closed.  no food, great just great.  we get in the elevator to go back up and it gets stuck.  i have to ring the bell to get some help.  they let us out and we head back to the room.  the key does not work AGAIN.  now calle is sleeping, dh is back from wherever the hell it was he went and he cannot get in because the key does not work AGAIN.  i still have not eaten anything and it is now almost 4:00.   dh is upstairs yelling at the front desk and i told him to let them know that the maids did not come into the room.  i don't care about the beds but hellllllooooooooooo we need some new towels.

you will have to stay tuned for how the rest of my day turns out.  all i know is that it cannot get much worse than this.  believe me there were times when i wanted to scream or put my fist through a wall but instead i opted to just laugh.

  • Changing of the guard...

I got myself a cup of coffee, grabbed my knitting and planted myself in front of the tv yesterday morning and did not move for a couple of hours.  I did not miss a beat, watched everything.  I continued to watch it later that evening and into this morning.  I just cannot get enough.  What a day!  The tears came during his speech.  I was proud, proud of what I helped do and  proud of what we did together.  I was filled with hope and a certainty  that things will change and for the better.  Heck you only have to look at who was sworn in to see that the change has begun already and I am hopeful it will open the floodgates and  break down some barriers both here at home and abroad.  We have not only a wonderful new president but a fabulous first family.

    We done good!!!

  • Lattes in the morning

It is not hard to understand that when you use an appliance that is plugged into the wall that means it is using electricity and usually means that it has to be turned on and off......right?????  I got an espresso machine for Christmas.  I LOVE it.  It has saved me so much money you cannot believe it.  I would drop a couple bucks every day I went to Starbucks and if I had the kids then it was way more.  The only one who has the "need" for coffee like me is Jess.  I waited for Christmas to justify spending the money on a machine and honestly I think it was one of the best things I have bought in a long time.  Imagine, lattes, mochas and espresso whenever you want one without having to drive to the coffee shop for one and pay their prices.  Dh wanted to learn to use the machine.  I just thought to myself oh my.  If I tell him a story that has more than two people in it he gets very confused and I loose him, he gets that kinda deer in headlight look.  I just though all these steps, it aint gonna be pretty.  I gave him lessons and as predicted it was a nightmare.  He finally got it down but then he has to deal with the anal retentive me.  It is my machine and I want to keep it working right and for a while.  I am picky.  I like the steaming wand cleaned off after every use so milk does not cake up on it, I like filtered water poured in every day so that it does not run the risk of running without it, but most importantly I like it turned OFF when finished using it.  This is especially important because it gives the pressure time to go down so that when the next person comes and takes off the basket it doesn't blow up and send coffee grounds all over the place.  I mean really am I asking for a lot???   This morning I come out and there is my little machine waiting for me WITH ALL THE LIGHTS ON which means he did not shut it off and it has been on for over a half hour.  That means that I will have to wait until it cools to make myself my cup of coffee.  I waited and it even blew coffee grounds all over the place.  Grrrrrr.  Now I have been threatening for a while that if he does not remember to turn it off or clean off the wand he is done, finito, finished.  Well today was the last straw.  Not only did I have to wait for my beloved morning cup of coffee, I had to clean up grounds of coffee that were sent on the wall, the cookie jar, the bottles of syrup and just about any other place with a close proximity.  Then of course there is the slight problem of leaving it plugged in and having it go on fire, that thing gets really hot.  So I have decided he is done.  No more lattes for dh. He can go back to the drip machine.  I do not think I am being mean or a b*tch.  I have given him fair warning and I am just done.  The next time he goes to make a latte he will have a bit of a problem, the basket will not be there and he will be sh*t outa luck!!!!
